UPAYA PEMANFAATAN APE DALAM MEWUJUDKAN PEMBELAJARAN MERDEKA DI PAUD

Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of Educational Play Tools (APE) in supporting the implementation of independent learning at PAUD Negeri Melati Dharma Wanita. This research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants included the school principal and teachers involved in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. The findings reveal that the use of APE has been implemented based on the KUMER principles (contextual, affordable, and relevant), by utilizing natural and recycled materials available in the surrounding environment as learning media. The integration of APE was proven to enhance children’s creativity, independence, social skills, as well as cognitive and motor development through active, meaningful, and joyful learning experiences. Additionally, APE plays an essential role in strengthening the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly independence, collaboration, and faith and noble character. Despite the challenges related to limited APE availability and a high student–teacher ratio, teachers continued to innovate by creating simple APE independently as a practical solution. Therefore, the use of APE significantly contributes to promoting meaningful, creative, and child-centered learning aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum.
