Abstract

This study aims to identify and understand the challenges faced by teachers at PAUD Negeri Melati Dharma Wanita in implementing the Independent Curriculum through a project-based learning approach. The research employed a qualitative method with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings revealed three main challenges experienced by teachers: limited facilities and learning resources, ineffective time management, and low concentration among some children during project activities. To overcome these challenges, teachers utilized simple materials from the surrounding environment, adjusted project timelines, and designed more engaging activities aligned with the developmental characteristics of early childhood. Despite these obstacles, the implementation of project-based learning within the Independent Curriculum has had a positive impact on children’s development, particularly in fostering independence, creativity, and collaboration skills. Therefore, support from educational institutions, parents, and the government is essential to enhance learning facilities and teacher competencies so that the Independent Curriculum in early childhood education can be implemented more effectively, meaningfully, and sustainably.
